Regional Hero Award 2024

In June 2024 Susan was humbled to receive this award from Argyll & Bute Third Sector Interface.

Susan was nominated as Regional Hero for Oban and Lorn at the Argyll and Bute Third Sector Interface Volunteer of the Year Awards 2024 for her dedication over the last 36 years to various charities, including Scripture Union, SiMBA, Dunbeg Together, and Anam Cara Fasgadh.

Susan dedicates the award to every single bereaved family we have supported and says that it was amazing to hear her daughters Alex and Eilidh Beth mentioned.

Scotland’s People Awards 2023

Jackie Bird travels across Scotland to shine a light on unsung heroes and community champions, members of the public who have gone above and beyond to make the country a better place to live.

Unbeknownst to each other, our cofounders Michael McGuire and Susan Simpson were both separately nominated for awards in 2023. Irene nominated Susan, Susan nominated Michael and the team at BBC Scotland had the headache of filming it all in secret!
